The architectural proposal for the Phase B of the UCY Student Residences is organized into distinct zones that enhance urban planning and spatial coherence, creating a unified green central area on the levels below while ensuring privacy and functionality on the levels rising above. A key feature is the creation of an elevated platform that houses communal services and offers shaded outdoor spaces, encouraging social interaction among students. The buildings are designed with a modular approach, featuring six identical structures that accommodate 730 students, including specialized rooms for students with disabilities.
The design prioritizes sustainability, with features such as geothermal heating and cooling, photovoltaic systems, and permeable surfaces for water management. The structures are elevated to allow for continuous green spaces below, enhancing the microclimate and providing a sense of openness. The orientation and design of the buildings maximize natural light and ventilation, contributing to a comfortable living environment. The project also includes secure access points and a clear separation between public and private areas, ensuring both safety and a strong sense of community for the residents.
